Aperture

Aperture is an adjustable opening located inside the camera lens that controls the amount of light reaching the image plane. The opening and closing of the diaphragm mechanism will allow more light or less light to reach the image sensor. The aperture and camera's shutter, together control the exposure of the image. Aperture and angle of view also combine to control the effective Depth of Field or Bokeh of the soft focus appearance in non-sharp areas of the image created.
